Cobie Smulders

Cobie Smulders, star of How I Met Your Mother (and Avengers), was diagnosed with ovarian carcinoma at the age of 25. This is unusual for a cancer that affects many postmenopausal woman. After getting the diagnosis, Smulders was most scared of losing her fertility. She told People that she was afraid of losing her fertility. "...[It was hard to deal with not having children, especially when I was so young. Kids were not even on my mind until 25 but I wanted them someday.

As it turns out, Smulders was able to have children. The actress had two-thirds of her ovaries removed via surgery and later had two kids. Since then, she's been in full remission and after undergoing treatment privately, decided to talk publicly about her battle in 2015
